Makeup for Oily SkinPosted by Shary Jimie on
Doing your makeup when your skin is oily can be tricky because more often than not, your makeup products can betray you and make you look like a glazed donut at the end of the day but not all makeup products are going to make you shine like a disco ball. All you need to do is pick the right makeup products so you can look sleek from dusk to dawn.
Use a Makeup Primer
Primer is important because it serves as a canvas for your makeup. It acts as a layer between your skin and your makeup for an even and flawless base. Choose mattifying primer because most primers are 95% moisturiser so you don’t need that extra moisture. Don’t forget to prime your eyelids too so your eyeshadow won’t move around!
Matte Foundation is the way to go
We know dewy looks are getting all of the hype but if you have oily skin, it’s best to go for matte liquid foundation instead because dewy foundation tends to look greasy after a few hours of wear. Matte foundation is your solution for a long-lasting and shine-free look.
Choose Liquid-Based products
On the contrary, you might think that powder-based products are suitable for oily skin but actually, if your skin is super oily, you should definitely choose liquid-based products instead because powders can emulsify with your natural oils, leaving you with a runny makeup mess. However, if your skin is moderately oily, you can use powder-based blush or highlighter for that sleek, matte look!
Set Your Makeup
This goes without saying, always set your makeup with setting powder and/or setting spray so you can lock your makeup just the way you need it to be. If you don’t set your makeup, chances are, your makeup will melt and it will be jumbled with the oil from your skin and you don’t want any of that. Even just a quick dab of powder will do the trick and can save your makeup from a meltdown.
While you’re on-the-go, you can bring your blotting powder or paper so you can do quick touch-ups to keep your makeup look intact. Need makeup products that are transfer-proof and oily skin-friendly? You should definitely try out our Liquid Matte Lipsticks, Reality Star liquid shadow and our latest Long Lift Lashes mascara. Long-lasting, non-drying but super easy to remove with micellar water!
Not to forget our honourable mention: Glo with The Flo (Sheer Glow Cheek Colour). This gel-formula blush is non-comedogenic, blurs pores and blends seamlessly. Psst, our Glo with The Flo got featured on Harper’s Bazaar Malaysia for Beauty Awards 2021 as the Best Malaysian Cream Blush.
