6 Ways on how to hydrate your skin

Been dreaming of bouncy and supple skin? Well-hydrated skin will not only give you that boing-boing effect, but it will also appear more healthy and extra glowy. Actually, you don’t have to spend a lot of $$$ just to get beautiful, hydrated skin. All you need is to practice a few tips so you can help boost your skin’s hydration.

#1 Hydration is key

Though there’s no scientific proof that links drinking water to having good skin directly, scientifically speaking, when you drink a sufficient amount of water, your organs will be able to function well, improving your skin’s elasticity, decreasing your chances of developing premature wrinkles. Not only that, but water helps retain moisture in your skin so bye, bye, dull skin!

#2 Avoid washing your face with hot water

If you’re the type of person who just can’t shower with cold water especially in the morning, try your best to avoid the hot water from touching your face area because hot water strips your natural oils and it will cause your skin to be super dry. The golden tip is to wash your face with warm water, as it will strip the grimes off your face while still preserving your skin’s natural oils. Cold water is excellent too because it tightens your skin for that healthier glow.

#3 Stop using harsh products, start using hydrating ingredients

Does your current cleanser make your skin feel super tight after every usage? Then it’s time to completely stop using it because it contains harsh ingredients that aren’t suitable for your delicate skin. Look out for these hydrating ingredients instead: Glycerin, Ceramides, Fatty alcohols, Squalane, Honey, Vitamin E, and Hyaluronic Acid which we will further explain in the following point.

#4 Start incorporating Hyaluronic Acid into your routine

At this point, you must be very familiar with Hyaluronic Acid and if you haven’t gotten into the bandwagon, you should start now! Hyaluronic Acid is considered one of the holy grail ingredients of skincare because it brings moisture to your skin. It has a stellar ability to draw and hold water so this is indeed your secret for a boing boing skin!

#5 Pop a facial mask once a week

Facial masks are super important especially in Korean beauty routines but you don’t have to do it every day. Just do it once a week, your skin will feel less irritated, and super moisturised. The best part of using a face mask is that you will automatically feel relaxed and pampered. Plugin your favourite R&B and it’s a perfect activity to tune down after a hectic week.

#6 Maintain a healthy diet

One of the easiest ways to get hydrated skin is to maintain a healthy diet as your skin will be healthy, inside out. We know the temptation of drinking 3 cups of coffee every day but it's best to reduce your caffeine intake because it dries out your skin as it’s a diuretic. Start including these into your diet for healthier skin and a healthier body: Soy, almond, oat milk, beans, peas, lentils, salmon, mackerel, other fatty fishes, green leafy vegetables, yellow and orange fruits and vegetables and also tomato and berries.

And also… your skin isn’t the only thing that needs hydration! Your lips need a good boost of hydration too! It’s time to treat your lips with Velvet Vanity’s Glossy Glo Lip Oil, besties. Infused with jojoba seed oil, apricot oil and rice bran oil, say goodbye to chapped lips and hello to beautiful, healthy pout.
